Exercising with Chronic Pain

Exercise is the last thing anyone wants to read about, right? Of course, right! 

Well, since January of 2024, I have successfully exercised 5-6 days per week. Some days I can only do floor stretches; some days I may be able to add weights and some days I can ride an Air Dyne bike for 2-6 miles or walk the treadmill for a mile or two and, in nice weather, walk 2 miles outside.  

Some days I can only get out of bed and rummage my way through the day. But every day I pray to God and thank Him for another day and ask Him to help me get through it. 

To begin my exercise journey, I bought a 1″ yoga mat to do my floor stretches. I have found a 1″ helps my knees better than a half inch, but that’s just me. I also broke my Coccyx in two places in April of 2024, making exercise and stretches even harder, but I kept going! (Please don’t ask how I broke my Coccyx…let’s just say I will NEVER sit on an exercise ball again… ).

I also invested in some light hand weights. These were Amazon Basics weights and I got a variety of weight sizes. I also ordered over-the-door arm bands and resistance leg bands. These things were not necessary, but I felt they were essential to my health, low in cost and would be used. I bought a rack to house all the equipment and I was ready to go!! (See picture below)

In 2024, after 6 months of consecutive floor exercises (and a broken bum) I decided to invest in a Home Gym. (see picture below) I have continued to use this gym 5-6x each week. I do less weight and more reps per session to help me build up strength.
