Welcome

Welcome to The Fibro-Lupus Butterfly!

I am a home-schooling mother of ten who was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in January of 2015. This website is about the daily struggles of living life with a chronic, invisible illness.

Fibromyalgia is a very persistent condition, therefore I refer to myself as a “Persistent Butterfly”…

The word persistent means “continuing to exist or endure over a prolonged period” which, if you have an invisible illness, you understand what it means to endure daily!

The butterfly is the symbol for Fibromyalgia as well as Lupus.

Did you know that a persistent butterfly is actually a flower? It has nothing to do with chronic, invisible illness!

I thought it a strange sort of irony to realize I referred to myself with those two words-using them as a symbol for my condition-and not the actual meaning…I guess it is only fitting because to the onlooker, I look healthy and not flawed…but inside I am quite the opposite!

As you scroll through the pages of this site, it is my prayer that you will find comfort in knowing you are not alone in this journey of painful living. We are all flowers at heart (*smile) trying to live life to the fullest with a debilitating disease.

This blog was started in June of 2017 and changes will be added regularly, so please be sure to check back!!

For now, gently make a cup of coffee or tea, get comfy and settle in!

God Bless!

My Navy son gave me this candle for Mother’s Day in 2017 when he came home on leave. I love the scent!! Also, in 2014, my dear, sweet Mother gave me this coffee mug when my life began to sway. The words on the mug greet me each day so that I will always remember to “embrace the changes life throws at you.”
